General Information

 

 

Check-in is anytime after 5:00 PM the evening prior to your first day of hunting. Departure time is before noon on the last day of hunting.

If you are flying commercial, Amarillo Rick Husband International Airport (AMA) is the closest airport. It is serviced by Allegiant, American Airlines, Southwest, and United. Private airport accommodations are available at Tradewinds, TacAir, and more.  If you need to rent a vehicle, they are available at the airport. 

LICENSES

Please purchase all Texas State and Federal licenses prior to your arrival at https://tpwd.texas.gov 

Required Licensing to Hunt

  • Federal waterfowl stamp

  • Resident or non-resident 5 day special hunting license 

  • Sandhill Crane permit

  • Texas State HIP certification 

  • Hunter’s Education Certification, unless born before September 2, 1971

WHAT TO BRING

  • Shotgun (12 or 20 gauge recommended)

  • Ammunition - 3” or 3.5” nontoxic shot in sizes 5, 4, 3, 2, or BB

  • Camo outer layer 

  • Hunter orange hat and or vest if you plan to upland hunt

  • Warm underlayers strongly recommended 

  • Hunting boots - Warm and waterproof recommended

  • Gloves 

  • Camera

  • Eye protection - Sunglasses or shooting glasses recommended 

  • Ear protection

  • Lodge shoes- We ask that hunting boots not be worn inside the lodge, past the mudroom.

  • Comfortable loungewear for the lodge

  • Toiletries, prescriptions, and other personal items  

  • Raingear or waterproof outer shell recommended

  • Cooler for transporting birds

  • Positive attitude
